Located in the quaint village, Benaulim (the village of arrows) in South Goa, Goa Chitra is spread across 1.17 lakhs square meters and beyond. It is a conglomerate of museums that additionally features an art gallery, organic shop, a café & accommodation, set against the backdrop of an organic farm.
Goa Chitra Museum is not just a conglomerate of museums or an organization. It is a window to peer through, to find ourselves. A mirror that reflects the very nature and purpose of our existence. It is a stage for creative pursuits, a cultural institution, and a classroom for academic excellence. It is a playground for children and heritage hub for youngsters. It is a throwback to what we have forgotten. It is an album that makes you nostalgic.
His fascination with the age-old traditions and tools, and the realization that it would one day be irretrievably lost has culminated into this 30-year labour of love that houses over 40,000 priceless cultural artifacts he has personally collected.
We have hosted over 100,000 visitors since we started in 2009, including famous celebrities, diplomats, politicians, renowned scientists & historians, artists, musicians, school children
and our village elders.
