We are delighted to bring in bright, promising and experienced minds in a wide range of roles, and offer people to gain insight into the museums, into our culture and our heritage.

Volunteer Programs

Every volunteer offers invaluable support to us, and gets something back from it too!

More than 500 people across all groups and fields dedicate their time and effort to support us. Our volunteers are an integral part of our team and work in different roles to contribute to the growth and vision of the House of Culture and Heritage. 


Volunteers share their passion, knowledge and enthusiasm by making each event and visit memorable for our guests. Our volunteering opportunities and experiences are designed to inspire and benefit our volunteers as much as they contribute.

Types of Volunteers

One-time Volunteers

To help with events and activities like exhibitions, workshops, music programs, residencies, etc., that occur once or twice a month.
Profile of volunteers: Students interested in event management, art or any other theme related to the events and activities at the museum.

Long-term Volunteers

For indivijuals willing to make a daily/weekly commitment to the museum in the form of tour guide or curatorial assistant. This is an opportunity for life-long learners who are eager to make a contribution to society and dedicate their time and talent regularly to enhance our mission. 
Profile of volunteers: Senior citizens, College students taking a gap year, Art or History students, Homemakers, Tourists and Travellers willing to spend a minimum of 1 month with the museum

Volunteer Oppurtunities

Guided Tour Volunteers

Our guides are entrusted with the key responsibility of making the extensive collections of the museums accessible, meaningful and inspiring to all who visit and ensuring a fun, educational and memorable experience. This experience of learning, cultivating a love for one’s own motherland and disseminating information to our valued guests is highly enriching and rewarding.
If you are a life-long learner and want to make your contribution to enhance our mission of preserving the past for posterity, this is the program for you! 
Founder and Curator Victor Hugo Gomes will train volunteers for the Guided Tour Programs, designed to serve the needs and interests of our diverse visitors, from school children to adults. Volunteers for this important position undergo extensive, rigorous training to achieve the highest standards of presentation.
No prior Art History background or work experience is required to volunteer. However, those wishing to volunteer should be comfortable withstanding and walking for long periods and with communicating to people. 

Application Process
Interested applicants must attend at least one guided tour before applying.

  1. All accepted volunteers are required to attend a 1-week training course concentrating on the history, culture and purpose of the Museum’s collections, as well as on presentation skills and research techniques.
  2. During this course, you will be presented with a script that you must memorize in English or Hindi/Konkani.
  3. Volunteers will then shadow senior guides on their tours and learn how to present information and interact with our varied guests. You will also be required to make copious notes about each object in the Museum to better understand its history and heritage.
  4. The final test will be taking Victor on tour. If you can engage and impress him, you’ve definitely made a mark!

Time commitment: 10 guided tours per week. 


Minimum requirements:
Must attend one guided tour of the Museums.

Language proficiency in English, Hindi OR Konkani.

A love for Goa! 

Museum Events Volunteer

Our Events volunteers assist staff and artists in hosting workshops, exhibitions, outdoor trails, artist residencies and music events with the goal of creating a more personalized and intimate experience for our guests.

If you work full-time or have commitments but still want to learn, engage and make your contribution, then this opportunity is for you.


Time commitment: Volunteers are needed for 4-5 hour shifts primarily on weekends and evenings at specific times of the year according to the events.  


Minimum requirements:.

  1. Must attend one guided tour of the Museums.
  2. Language proficiency in English, Hindi OR Konkani.
  3. A love for Goa! 

Full-time Residential Volunteers

This is your opportunity to learn from and work closely with the Founder and Curator Victor Hugo Gomes and dedicate yourself to understanding and connecting with Goa’s cultural ethos and make your contribution to enrich the future and enhance our mission. 

For volunteers of this category, accommodation will be provided at the Goa Chitra House of Culture and Heritage. 


Residential Volunteers will go through the same rigorous training and processes as Guided Tour Volunteers, and they will be expected to utilize their skills for  Events, Residencies, and Communication programs at the Museums.  


Time commitment: Minimum 2 months. 


Minimum requirement:


  1. Must attend one guided tour of the Museums.
  2. Language proficiency in English, Hindi OR Konkani.
  3. A love for Goa!
